What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a natural therapy that is a truly relaxing process which may offer benefits to people with all kinds of common ailments.

I have used reflexology to support patients suffering from such things as stress, the menopause and fertility. Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary therapy. It is based on the theory that parts of our feet and hands correspond to parts of the body. It is thought the ancient Egyptians used it for healing. Reflexology as a modern-day treatment was refined and developed in the 20th century, most notably by American Eunice Ingham.

The treatment involves applying gentle but firm pressure on the feet or hands. It is thought that working these points can bring about balance and healing in the corresponding part of the body.

In addition, reflexology promotes deep relaxation, which can normalise blood pressure and improve the body's circulation.

The aim of reflexology is to improve the overall physical and emotional health of the client.
